Success cannot make you feel Successful

Feeling Successful is an emotion that is not really related to Success.

Consider that everyone in this world is running a race. Everyone is somewhere in the race. The beggars and homeless are somewhere towards the end, whereas the likes of Bill Gates and Ophra Winfrey are somewhere towards the front. You are also somewhere in the race, running and trying to move ahead of those in front of you.

Also, consider that everyone is suffering from myopia. Therefore, no matter where you are in the race, you can only see 5 people ahead of you and 5 people behind you. A small shop owner somewhere in the line can only see and compare with similar 5 people ahead, and 5 people behind. This shop owner cannot even see Bill Gates or Oprah Winfrey. If the shop owner moves ahead, he would have a different set of 5 people ahead and 5 people behind to compare with. Similarly, a multi-millionaire somewhere in the race can see and compare himself only with 5 similar multi-millionaires ahead and 5 behind.

People continuously move ahead or behind in the race. Their position keeps changing with successes and failures in their own lives and in the lives of others. However, no matter where they are, their position remains the same from their own perspective. There are always 5 more successful people ahead, and 5 less successful people behind.

I agree life is not a race. In fact it is not possible to define what is life. There are multiple perspectives of life. life being a race it one such perspectives, which helps in understanding some aspects of it.
Some other perspectives of life that I personally like are, life is a journey, life is a game, life is an opportunity, life is an illusion.......

To enjoy life more...

To enjoy life more...

First, make sure you are positioned to laugh frequently.

Laughter is as intense and nourishing as experiences get. It reduces stress, builds your immune system, improves relationships, feels incredible and improves the way the world looks.

The key is to make sure you keep yourself open to an abundance of funny stuff to keep you laughing. Everyone claims to like to laugh, but it’s astounding how many people intentionally or unintentionally block most laughter opportunities from their lives. They’re too busy, too important, too tired, and too serious, to blah blah blah ... and they close the door on laughter.

Be sure to keep it wide open. Funny movies, funny friends, comedy shows … whatever makes you laugh, keep yourself wide open to it.

Second, to enjoy life more always remember to recognize and appreciate the little things.

There was an old toilet paper TV commercial whose jingle went, “Because little things mean a lot.” I don’t often quote toilet paper commercials, but I do agree with this one. And because the jingle was catchy, that saying always stuck in my head. Try to find a way to keep yourself reminded of the great importance of little things.

In the end the little things – a woman’s smile, a budding tree, that song on the radio, delightfully soft toilet paper – impact your life just as much if not more than the big things. That’s because there are so many more of them.

Third, to enjoy life more, experience more.

Delving into new adventures – from transformative books and music to spiritual experiences, travel experiences, you name it – keeps life amazing. It nurtures wisdom while keeping you young at heart … a gorgeous combination.

And just as with the little things, the world affords you an endless supply of these new experiences … again most people get so caught up in routine they forget how to see them, or they fool themselves into believing they have no time for them. Anxiety, dissatisfaction, depression sneaks up on these people. New experiences are as essential to your life as water.

The final key to enjoy life more? Love deeper.

Romantic love, parental love, familial love, friendship, universal love, love of God … no matter what brands of love you give or seek to give, with greater intensity. And you’ll discover (if you haven’t already) that this intense giving, this loving deeper, is not merely another way to enjoy life more … it is joy itself.

Be A Lake or Sea (story)

Once an The old Master instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and then to drink it.

"How does it taste?" the Master asked.

"Awful," spat the apprentice.

The Master chuckled and then asked the young man to take another handful of salt and put it in the lake.

The two walked in silence to the nearby lake and when the apprentice swirled his handful of salt into the lake,

The old man said, "Now drink from the lake."

As the water dripped down the young man's chin, the Master asked, "How does it taste?"

"Good!" remarked the apprentice. "Do you taste the salt?" asked the Master. "No," said the young man.

The Master sat beside this troubled young man, took his hands, and said,

"The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less.

The amount of pain in life remains the same, exactly the same. But the amount we taste the 'pain' depends on the container we put it into.

So when you are in pain, the only thing you can do is to enlarge your sense of things .....

Stop being a glass. Become a lake!"

The Bank Account of Life

Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400.
It carries over no balance from day to day.
Every “evening” deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.
What would you do?
Draw out every cent, of course!!!!

Each of us has such a “bank”. It’s name is TIME.
Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose.
It carries over no balance.
It allows no overdraft
Each day it opens a new account for you.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours
There is no going back. There is no drawing against the “tomorrow.”
You must live in the present on today’s deposits
Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!
The clock is running.
Make the most of today

To realize the value of ONE YEAR…. ask a student who failed a grade To realize the value of ONE MONTH….. ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby To realize the value of ONE WEEK…… ask the editor of a weekly newspaper To realize the value of ONE HOUR…… ask the lovers who are waiting to meet. To realize the value of ONE MINUTE….. ask a person who missed the train. To realize the value of ONE SECOND…. ask a person who just avoided an accident. To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND….. ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics. Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time. And remember that time waits for no one.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it’s called …. the Present!!

Got this from a website, thought to post it here..

Bill Gates' 11 Rules of Life

Whether you like Bill Gates or not...this is pretty
cool. Here's some advice Bill Gates recently dished out
at a high school speech about 11 things they did not
learn in school. He talks about how feel-good,
politically correct teaching has created a full
generation of kids with no concept of reality and how
this concept sets them up for failure in the real
world.

RULE 1
Life is not fair - get used to it.

RULE 2
The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world
will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel
good about yourself.

RULE 3
You will NOT make 60 thousand dollars a year right out
of high school. You won't be a vice president with
car phone, until you earn both.

RULE 4
If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a
boss. He doesn't have tenure.

RULE 5
Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your
grandparents had a different word for burger flipping
they
called it Opportunity.

RULE 6
If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't
whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

RULE 7
Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as
they are now. They got that way from paying your bills,
cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about
how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest
from the parasites of your parent's generation, try
delousing the closet in your own room.

RULE 8
Your school may have done away with winners and losers,
but life has not. In some schools they have abolished
failing grades and they'll give you as many times as
you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the
slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

RULE 9
Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get
summers off and very few employers are interested in
helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.

RULE 10
Television is NOT real life. In real life people
actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

RULE 11
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for
one.

Gateway for a Happy Life

Hello Friends,

Well this is my first page in the world of “Blogging”. So, adding a link to the “cliché” starting I will be describing myself and my Experiences. Just given my 7 semester exams and somehow managed to write a blog. Hehe.. well I am not that busy.

To start with, I am Aditya and my first day of experience on this earth is 25 September 1988. Doing my Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Computer Science. Since, From my childhood I was fond of Electronic Gadgets esp. Computer . I don’t know when I first operated the computer but I do know that I played solitaire when I first touched the mouse. I really aim to be the CEO of MICROSOFT though I lack that much talent but still aiming to be at that peak. To my Friends, my life is an open book. I Share each and every moment of my life with my friends but ironically I am still lacking to find my Best Friend.

You all may think that I am running a online philosophy class in my subsequent discussion , but its not like that, these are the things that had helped me to live happily in this world of masquerades. Its true that if you don’t run fast the people will step on you to go forward. I don’t blame them and this credit goes to this competitive world. Many a times people feel that they have lost everything in their life, there is no further path to move on, it’s the end of the life and Blah, blah, blah. Wait a second and rewind your mind n remember those happy days of yours - life is precious don’t waste it thinking all such bullshits. When you feel you are sinking, become a submarine and move on. Work hard to achieve your goal – “Jab khoon pasina ek saath kagaz pe girte hain to wo kagaz kagaz nahi sona (GOLD) ban jata he”. Try to help people as much as you can but beware of people who utilizes you when you help them. This is an “INCIVSIVE WORLD”, you need to look in all the four directions at a time, if you really need to carry on with a happy life. Now, ending this discussion with a beautiful quote –

Life is an echo: all comes back, the good, the bad, the false, the true, give the world the best you have and the best will come back.

Many of you may think that I have gone crazy, and writing such stuff, but, think from your heart that all the above mentioned are true or not ..

Next time, I will be coming with a speech by my Idol, Mr.William Henry Gates better know as Bill Gates. This speech is about the life that many of you are going through or have passed by.
